Job Description
Miller Timber Services, Inc. is a private wildland fire service contractor that operates on an as-needed basis to provide private landowners as well as state, federal and local agencies with professional resources for wildland fire and emergency incidents. We are 100% self-sufficient and capable of furnishing all services, supervision, equipment and transportation of resources. Resources can be deployed for initial attack, fire suppression, mop-up, standby preparedness and all-hazard incidents throughout the United States.
Wildland Firefighters that work for Miller Timber Services, Inc. are hardworking, dependable, self-disciplined individuals with a willingness to perform the challenges at hand.
Duties:
-Contain, control and suppress wildland fire
-Required rapid on-call deployment preparedness for wildfire and emergency incidents
-Utilize the appropriate hand tools, equipment and techniques to control the spread of wildfire (commonly used tools: pulaski, shovel, hazel hoes, ax, and chainsaw)
-Perform basic fireline activities including line construction, moving dirt, hose layout, cut, scatter and or removal of fuels using hand tools.
-Serve as a skilled wildland firefighter on an organized crew during wildfires and prescribed burns holding line, patrolling, monitoring fire behavior, and performing mop-up operations.
-Willingness to work outdoors in remote and rugged conditions with extended travel required and overnight camping with minimal accommodations.
-Abide by all safety standards and techniques to mitigate risk while on assignment
